About Marysia Trembecka’s Creative Practice
Marysia Trembecka
Half-Polish, half-English actress and cabaret artiste based in London, UK, Marysia Trembecka has been writing, creating, and performing all her own shows for over 20 years. Her original work blends comedy, music, and cultural storytelling.
This includes her research-based work exploring the pros and cons of the EU referendum in the UK 2016 (Marysia is an ex-banker) for Songs of Brexit—which led to a London Live interview, and subsequently to a BBC2 national live debate appearance.
Plus her UK Arts Council–funded, fiercely feminist Queen Of The F*cking World, which involved in-depth research into social history, gender, and interviews with those at the cutting edge of sexual politics to develop a dark cabaret blending music and critical storytelling. She also created The Singing Psychic, which toured internationally first as the original coming of age piece then into the Game Show version, selling out across Canada, Gothenburg, three Edinburgh Fringe sell-out runs, Adelaide Fringe, Prague, London and the UK.

Filmmaking & Research
Marysia also writes and directs her own short films and webseries, including Songs of Soho.
She is currently looking to develop ‘Divine Divas’, an interdisciplinary R&D project investigating whether iconic popular songs function as contemporary mythology and how specific compositions act as modern parables that reveal universal archetypal truths. This is based on her 20 years of touring and seeing audiences reactions to certain songs.
Her background as an ex-banker and also a project management BSC degree gives her the skills to conduct rigorous research for her shows, from historical analysis and sensitive interviews for Queen Of The F*cking World to researchiung financial data connected to Songs of Brexit, blending creative storytelling with real-world investigation.
